Grade 7 News

English Language Arts

Students use the laptops to research topics related to Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. They explore links to learn about piracy, expand their vocabulary, and investigate themes of greed, good vs. evil, and the pirates' code of honor. The online research provides daily opportunities for students to use their word processing skills to record information and respond to daily writing prompts.

Forty-five and focus...Students listen intently with laptop lids partially closed to writing prompt instructions following a field trip to the Norman Rockwell Museum. With a copy of Rockwell's Before the Shot projected on the screen, the students brainstorm setting, characters, and plot before using their laptops to word process a story to accompany the image.

Social Studies

No need for paper and pencils for this test...Students use their text books, iBooks, and online resources to complete this social studies test. After recording answers in Microsoft Word, they save their tests to the teacher's flash drive. The teacher corrects and grades the tests and the following day the students download their graded tests onto their hard drives.
